Building a career is one of many people’s goals in life. Hence, people spend much of their time upgrading their skills. However, people may think of changing their careers. Thus, sometimes they join a career switcher program. In career switching, there are at least two types of switches written below.
Type A
Type A is the most challenging type in career switching. Type A is when there is a change in the job category, job role, job level, job scale, or change in the company.
First, the job category changes, people switch their careers from one category to the other category of job. For instance, changing from Human Resource and Development Department staff into procurement department.
Second, the job role, people change from one role to another. For example, an operational department worker changes job to an accountant.
The third is when an employee changes jobs and should go to down level to start everything from zero, this is called a job level switch. Going down a level is one of some aspects that one should consider before deciding to switch. In a career switcher program, you will be taught how to anticipate a situation like this.
Fourth, for the company itself, there is one type of switching, i.e. scale switching. Here, the company may change the main focus. For example, a company was initially a start-up company but then changed into a manufacturing company.
Lastly, a person may resign and apply for a different company. This is called company switching.
Type B
Type B is when a person is switching like type A, but only at one or two variables of switching. For instance, an employee may work as a graphic designer for years, but experience different types of industry.
Those are two types of career switches. It is important to understand what kind of career switch you are doing so that you will understand the next step needed. After knowing it, you can join a career switcher program. In the program, you will learn a new skill.
Besides, joining the program also helps you to get the license for your skill. Hence, you can use the license to apply for a new job. Hence, you don’t need to worry if you feel like you don’t have enough skills to switch careers.
